Isaiah 54:2 – Enlarge the place of your tent , and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out; DO NOT HOLD BACK, LENGTHEN YOUR CORDS AND STRENGTHEN YOUR STAKES.
There is this theme of expectation. The verse before declaring hope. An invitation to anticipate more from this God of the desolate one. An invitation to expand in preparation.
DO NOT HOLD BACK, LENGTHEN YOUR CORDS
Nothing to be spared. Every ounce of self to be given. Every possible place of anticipation, make way.
STRENGTHEN YOUR STAKES
Not only is there a call for anticipation at what this God will do but a call to strengthen the things that hold that anticipation in place. To strengthen your hope for what He has said He will do.
For me that looks like not just remembering or rereading words give or spoken but remembering the feeling when the word was given. Remember the confidence in the word when it was spoken. Remember the hope when the word was spoken. To let the word not simply cause room by Bis grace but be strengthen.
Clearly easier said than done but it is my firm belief the the God I serve can make all that and more abound for He says:
Fear not, for you will not be ashamed; be not confounded, you will not be disgraced….my steadfast love shall not depart from you, and my covenant of peace shall not be removed.
