And now I am about to go the way of all the earth, and you know in your hearts and souls, all of you, that not one word has failed of all the good things that the Lord your God promised concerning you. All have come to pass for you; not one of them has failed.
joshua 23:14
goodness i love this verse!
not. one. word. of ALL the good things God promised. not one of them failed. not a single one.
i am so quick to doubt the goodness of God because timing is off, circumstances are difficult, or pain is real. it is therein that lies the importance of taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ. in the moment of doubt, bringing it subject to the truth of His faithfulness.
isaiah 25:1 describes His faithfulness as perfect. in every pain, in every lingering illness, in every loneliness, in every job loss, He is somehow still faithful. what a place to stand firm, grounding your flag in the ground. claiming a promise He has made. that He is, and always will be, faithful.
there is a song by dustin kensrue and it is called God is Good. but here are a couple of lines that get me…every. single. time.
Even when it seems the answer’s no
The promises of God all find their Yes…And even when it seems he pays no mind
We have a guarantee of his great love
In Christ who came and left his crown behind
That one day we would reign with him above.
it is in His faithfulness that we can be confident His promise will find it’s yes. it is in His death and resurrection that we can be confident of His guarantee of great love.
do you know His love? do you know His faithfulness? if you don’t, it changes things.
