seasons are so interesting to me. that they know when to change and that whatever is going on in a particular season knows that it is supposed to happen within the given season. for instance, the weather in winter behave differently than weather in the summer. trees grow leaves in one season and shed them in another.
mirroring that, i think seasons with the Lord are interesting. He interacts differently in different seasons. there have been seasons where all i want to do is worship. there have been seasons where He is creating a hunger in me for Him and i can’t seem to hear Him enough. there are seasons where all i want to do is read fiction…and He speaks to me in that.
lately i have been spending time in a couple of the psalms. psalm 84 is currently a fav. there is this section of verses that just speak to me:
What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord, (NLT)
in whose heart are the highways to Zion. (ESV)i do
As they go through the Valley of Baca (ESV)
they make it a place of springs; (AMP)
the early rain also fills [the pools] with blessings. (AMP)
They will continue to grow stronger, (NLT)
each one appears before God in Zion. (ESV)
O Lord God of hosts, hear my prayer; (ESV)
give ear, O God of Jacob! Selah (ESV)
since the first time reading it recently, this idea of our hearts being highways to zion hit me. the possibility for someone to interact with me and after knowing my heart a little could be a little closer to the kingdom makes my heart so excited. i want to be that. i want the heartbeat of my life to be a place where people get to meet Jesus because my strength is coming from Him.
