year ago i had tried to read this book. as i read it talked of an evil woman. one who inflicted pain, sought out whoredom and brokenness unlike i have experienced. i “couldn’t” read this trash. i wanted to keep my mind pure. but i do believe i was missing the picture of the book. it is a fiction based on genesis.
at one point two men are discussing genesis 4:1-16. in particular the part where it says that we must rule over sin. they were trying to understand because one version said ‘thou shalt’ and one version said ‘do thou.’ after a long time studying…this is the conclusion one man came to.
now, there are many millions in their sects and churches who feel the order, “do thou,” and throw their weight into obedience. and there are millions who feel predestination in “thou shalt.” nothing they may do can interfere with what will be. but “though mayest!” why, that makes a man great, that gives him stature with the gods, for in his weakness and his filth and his murder of his brother he has still the great choice.
there is a truth here. He commands us but there is the choice. we CAN stand in authority and rule over sin or we can let it take us over. it looks different for each person. letting sin may be addiction. it may be constant daydream and laziness. it may be doubting God continually. etc. but we have the power to stand victorious over sin because Jesus came and crushed Satan’s head!
for those who are in Christ Jesus, we are free! free indeed! don’t return to that bondage anymore.
For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery. Galatians 5:1
